Clinical Observership Program for Neurosurgery

The department of Neurosurgery, Stroke Center at Sapporo Teishinkai Hospital is offering Observership program for foreign neurosurgeons. We are committed to high-quality continuing education to neurosurgeons domestically and throughout the world. The program’s educational experiences consist of clinical and practical rotation, participation in open surgery and a daily morning conference. During the training, fellows have an opportunity to witness innovative surgical techniques for cerebrovascular and skull base surgery, and also learn surgical anatomy and the theoretical indication of neurosurgery. This program is designed to learn safer and less invasive surgical approaches and develop of diagnostic skills through advanced micro-neurosurgical training and enrich their experiences to benefit their patients and the future research. Fellows are not permitted to be involved in patient’s care and can only engage in observation-study. They are not allowed to provide any medical intervention and treatment due to Japanese Medical Law.
