I first new Prof.Tanikawa in 2013 when he came to Helsinki and did bypass live surgery then I realized that this man is exceptionally talented surgeon in the sense that he is not only performing excellent microsurgery but he is also a physiological microneurosurgeon because I do know that not all anatomical microsurgery means good functional outcomes then I decided to join him in Sapporo Teishinkai Hospital and I did for 3 times !! Each time I got only small fraction of his wisdom and technique,he generously allowed every fellow to take the full length of all operations (which not every neurosurgeon do)so I copied 6 tera operative videos that helped me a lot but still of course they will not substitute your real witness of his comments and attending his operations What I learned from him is huge He has his own way in every step of operation starting from positioning to skin incision to (physiological) muscle dissection to STA or OA preparation to arachnoidal dissection and the whole will result in what he called it -no single RBC surgery Even the microscope he designed his own microscope MM77 that give a very wide field of vision and the sharpest possible vision with very fast zooming that can reach X20 I strongly recommend for the younger generations of neurosurgeons that they will never attempt doing vascular neurosurgery unless they come to Professor Tanikawa and join him and his team for not less than 6 months and looking to his videos because both his wisdom and technique are game changer in the whole field of vascular and skull base surgery .
